Schofield Barracks Soldier Convicted of Sexual Assault
WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, Hawaii – A military jury convicted an Army private for sexually assaulting another Soldier during a trial held Sept. 21-25 at the Wheeler Army Airfield Courtroom.
Pvt. Alpha M. Diallo, 27, a water treatment specialist assigned to the 524th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, 25th Division Sustainment Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, was sentenced by the military judge to 17 months of confinement, reduction in rank to E-1, and a dishonorable discharge from the Army.
On April 20, 2025, at Schofield Barracks, Diallo drove to the unit’s barracks for a barbecue after being invited by the victim, a fellow Soldier. She had just completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training and had recently arrived in Hawaii for her first assignment in the Army.
After he arrived, Diallo refused to get out of his vehicle, so the victim went over to his car to talk to him. Without warning, Diallo drove away from the party with the victim in the car. Frightened, the victim texted her friends “help.” He parked the car in a secluded parking lot and sexually assaulted her despite her telling him “no” multiple times.
The victim’s friends found Diallo’s car by using the “Find My” iPhone app because the victim had shared her location with her friends prior to the incident. Once they arrived, the assault stopped, and the victim quickly jumped out of the car and told them what happened. That evening, she reported the assault to the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
“The survivor in this case demonstrated tremendous courage in coming forward and trusting the justice process. This conviction demonstrates the Army’s commitment to holding those who commit sexual assault accountable,” said Capt. Matthew McCoy, prosecutor, Seventh Circuit, Army Office of Special Trial Counsel. “Hearing her speak about her determination not to let this traumatic experience define her Army career was truly powerful. Her courage and strength are an example of what it means to persevere.”
“The burden of safety does not rest on a Soldier’s ability to signal for help or track a location—it rests on individuals respecting boundaries and the word ‘no,’” said Special Agent in Charge Michael DeFamio, Army CID’s Asia Pacific Field Office. “The sole responsibility for this crime lies with Diallo, who was invited to the barracks barbecue by the victim only to weaponize that hospitality and trust into an act of predatory assault.”
“This court-martial was about ensuring the survivor’s voice is heard and her experience is treated with the seriousness and dignity it deserves,” said Capt. Kristen Coppock, prosecutor, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, 25th Infantry Division. “The survivor is a service member much like the accused in this case, and to experience a sexual assault at the hands of a fellow service member can profoundly violate the trust in the system. Today’s verdict rebuilds that trust.”
Diallo is currently confined at the Navy’s Pearl Harbor Brig awaiting orders to transfer to another military corrections facility. Upon release from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender under federal and state statutory requirements.
This case was investigated by Army CID’s Asia-Pacific Field Office and prosecuted by McCoy and Coppock.
